TransDesk removes the unsightly ‘blocks’ behind desktop icon texts on early versions of Windows, between 95 and 2000.

You can either simply run the .exe (for white text on a transparent background), or add a -textcol parameter to change the colour of the text

TransDesk will stay running in the background ensuring the blocks stay transparent unless you tell it not to do so with the ‘-quit’ parameter.  This is generally not recommended because after an entire desktop redraw, the blocks will reappear.
